Meet the team: Mandeep Singh – Senior Data Engineer

In this 'Meet the Team' article, we speak to Mandeep Singh, a Senior Data Engineer. Mandeep has been part of the Ardent team for over two years and is a real asset to our data engineering team. We pride ourselves on continuous learning and innovation and Mandeep goes above and beyond to embody that.

Tell us about what you do at Ardent

I am a Senior Data Engineer and handle end-to-end data pipeline solutions. I’m responsible for the data availability in the destination tables, data in sync, data readiness, ETL and new process set-up or upgrading the existing process for multiple client projects.

What does your typical day look like?

Every day is different with new challenges. I get started with bug fixes if required and set up new processes. I also spend time with other data teams to share and exchange ideas to further improve and develop our work. I also like to learn about the latest and most innovative technologies to enhance my skills.

What has your journey with Ardent been like?

My journey with Ardent has been like a roller coaster with many ups and downs. There are always new tasks and something new to learn which enables me to be focused.  I am proud of being part of the team and we work well as a unified unit. I am not myself without my team.

What do you most value about the Ardent culture?

We at Ardent, work as a team and one of the significant things I value about the culture is the collaborative culture. Everyone will lend a hand and support each other when required. We are also lucky with our senior leadership who get stuck in to provide guidance too.

What’s something you are most proud of achieving since you have been at Ardent?

One of the highlights for me has been the ability to convince a client of the right choice of technology by presenting them with a detailed whitepaper and POC, empowering us to win the project and delivering it successfully.

What are you most looking forward to?

I look forward to being on the senior level of management where I can help and support the juniors to learn more technologies and help then enhance their skills

What led you to a career in Tech?

I have always been passionate about tech. Starting in my tech career, my first job was as an MIS analyst, responsible for data cleaning and uploading. This was followed by my second job working as Business Analyst where I was responsible for the migration process from MySQL to Redshift and Athena. Then finally I landed my dream job as a Senior Data Engineer at Ardent. I had wanted to be in a role where I could take full responsibility and complete the end-to-end processes.

How did you find your way to Ardent?

Honestly Ardent has provided me with my dream role, and for over two years I have been part of the data engineering team working on multiple client projects which is challenging and rewarding.

Who are you when you’re not at Ardent?

I’m someone who loves helping others whether that is tech-related or not. I like to help those who have the willingness to learn and improve.

Mandeep is a good asset to our data engineering team. He has excellent skills in database design, data modelling and complex SQL query writing. He is an expert in Redshift, Databricks and Amazon Web Services. He is dedicated and in case of a blocker or urgent issue, he jumps on and takes ownership. He has secured AWS database speciality certification and Databricks partner certifications. Mandeep is a hardworking individual, an excellent learner and a great trainer for the team.
